For those who don’t know, I was an animator on Seasons 1 and 2 of Ten Year Old Tom for MAX and Season 2 premeires today! It was such a great experience and I’m so excited for everyone to see all the hard work we did on Season 2.
I recently participated in the L’Oiseau Artist Residency, an artist residency that took place completely in Animal Crossing New Horizons! This is the video I created for my piece “I Only Want What I Can’t Have” .
Animal Crossing allows us to have access to things we may not imagine having in our wildest dreams. A castle? You got it! A giant robot statue? Of course! Anything you could think of to own, there is probably an item in Animal Crossing for it.
Having played previous and current installments, I started to notice with Animal Crossing’s newest installment “New Horizons”, I would gravitate towards the more mundane items the game had to offer. With the cost of living rising and the strain on our supply chains exacerbating, things like toasters, laptops and plants seemed like necessities to decorate my virtual house. These items have no value outside of their virtual currency and aesthetics, but the barrier to obtain these items is so low. Even the cost of your virtual house is minimal compared to real-world cost. It is so easy and freeing to create the life you aspire to live, even if it’s just living comfortably with the things that make life livable.

I did the animation for the werewolf in the dancing scenes, as well as her howling, and the mummy and snake in the vanity scene (not included in gif form haha). I also did the voice acting for the werewolf!

I’m sad to say that Hallmark shut down the eCards website so Ladies Night was inevitably lost to time, safe for some gifs on giphy 🥲 maybe I’ll post it here some day if I find a good version of it .
